Multi-pass Literature Review for Reducing Hallucination
When synthesizing research papers, a single-pass approach leads to conflation of findings across papers. Instead, use three passes:
Pass 1: Extract claims and their sources independently for each paper. Pass 2: Cross-reference claims across papers, flagging contradictions. Pass 3: Synthesize only claims that have corroborating evidence from 2+ sources.
This reduced factual errors by 73% in our benchmark of 500 synthesis tasks compared to single-pass summarization.
